Types of Electro-Hydraulic Pump System
- DC power packs (12 V and 24 V): for trucks, trailers, tailgates and mobile equipment running from a battery.
- AC power packs: single phase or three phase, for fixed lifts, dock levellers and workshop equipment.
- Single acting packs: power one way, with gravity and a lowering valve bringing the load back down.
- Double acting packs: power both ways through a directional valve, for tipping, clamping and steering.
- Electro-hydraulic actuators: a motor, pump and cylinder in one sealed unit, with no external pipework.
Where They Work
- Truck tailgates, tippers and trailers.
- Scissor lifts, dock levellers and car hoists.
- Agricultural and snow clearing attachments.
- Clamping and fixture work on machines.
- Remote valves, hatches and doors in marine and industrial plant.
For full machine circuits rather than a single pack, see hydraulic systems and power units.
Duty Cycle Matters
Most small power packs are built for short bursts, not continuous running. Their motors often carry an intermittent rating, such as a few minutes on followed by a rest. Run them longer and the motor and oil overheat. If your application runs for long periods, choose a continuously rated pack or step up to a full HPU. For long running duties with changing demand, variable speed pump systems and servo hydraulic systems save energy as well.
Getting the Electrics Right
- Use cable sized for the motor current and the length of the run.
- Keep the battery terminals clean and tight, and the battery charged.
- Fit the right fuse or circuit breaker close to the battery.
- Check the start solenoid and switch contacts for burning.
Low voltage at the motor is the most common cause of slow lifting.
Choosing a Power Pack
- Work out the flow for the speed you need, and the pressure for the load.
- Check the oil volume the cylinder needs, and allow a margin in the tank.
- Decide on single or double acting.
- Choose the voltage and duty rating.
- Check the mounting position, horizontal or vertical.
- Consider a hand pump for emergency lowering.
Electro-Hydraulic Pump Systems Specifications to Check
- Motor voltage, power and duty rating
- Flow and maximum pressure
- Tank capacity and mounting position
- Valve function: single or double acting, lowering valve, load holding
- Control: push buttons, remote pendant or wireless
- Protection rating for outdoor or washdown use
Why Buy From TSA Hydraulics Engineering
As an electro-hydraulic pump systems supplier, we match the voltage, flow, tank size and valve function, so the pack lifts and lowers the way it should. You get clear prices in AUD, OEM or equivalent options, and help sourcing electro-hydraulic pump systems replacement parts such as motors, start solenoids, pumps, valves and seal kits. We tell you upfront which parts are genuine and which are equivalents.
