Hydraulic Piston Pumps: Axial and Radial Designs

Piston pumps use pistons moving inside a rotating block to build the highest pressures in hydraulics, often 350 bar and above. As part of the Hydraulic Pumps range in our Pumps, TSA Hydraulics Engineering supplies axial and radial piston pumps for mobile and industrial circuits.

Replacing a worn unit? Send us the nameplate code, and our engineers will match the size, control, flange, shaft and rotation so it fits the first time. Choose a genuine OEM pump or a quality equivalent, and get stock units fast from Sydney. Running a lower pressure job? Our gear pumps, vane pumps and servo hydraulic units may do it for less.

Frequently asked questions

Can't find your answer? Talk to an engineer.

1. What is the difference between axial and radial piston pumps?

Axial pumps line the pistons up with the shaft for compact, high-flow units. Radial pumps point the pistons outward and reach higher pressures.

2. Can I swap a fixed piston pump for a variable one?

Often, yes, if the flange, shaft and ports match. You will need to set the control to suit the circuit, and we can help with that.

3. Why does my piston pump need a case drain?

Some oil leaks past the pistons to lubricate them. The case drain returns it to the tank so pressure does not build up and damage the shaft seal.

4. Do you supply a datasheet with each piston pump?

Yes. Ask for the piston pump datasheet with your quote to check specifications, dimensions, and control options first.

5. How fast can I get a replacement piston pump?

Stock pumps ship fast from Sydney. For non-stock or large-frame pumps, we confirm the lead time with your quote.
