Cooling Water Systems
Air separation units, compressors, and liquefiers all reject large amounts of heat. Cooling water pumps circulate water through intercoolers, aftercoolers and heat exchangers, then on to cooling towers. These pumps usually run around the clock in duty and standby pairs, because losing cooling can trip a compressor within minutes. Keeping the water clean and treated protects the heat exchangers that the whole plant depends on.
Compressor Lube Oil Systems
Large gas compressors rely on lube oil systems with main and standby pumps, filters, coolers and accumulators to keep bearings and gears supplied. Some machines also run seal oil systems that stop process gas escaping along the shaft. Oil cleanliness and temperature control are critical here, and a standby pump that starts reliably is essential.
Vacuum and PSA Systems
Pressure swing adsorption (PSA) and vacuum swing adsorption plants produce nitrogen and oxygen on site. Vacuum swing systems use vacuum pumps or blowers to regenerate the adsorbent beds. Gas recovery, cylinder evacuation and some purification steps also need vacuum. The right vacuum pump depends on the gas, the vacuum level and any moisture in the stream.
Filling, Storage and Handling
Cylinder filling stations, bulk storage and delivery equipment add their own duties. Hydraulic systems lift, tilt and clamp cylinder bundles and handling equipment. Delivery vehicles may use hydraulic drives for transfer equipment. Cryogenic liquid pumps are specialist items, but the hydraulics, motors and cooling around them still need reliable parts.
What Gas Plant Equipment Needs
- Centrifugal pumps: cooling water circulation around the plant.
- Lube oil system parts: pumps, filters, coolers and accumulators.
- Vacuum pumps: for PSA, VSA and gas recovery duties.
- Hydraulic power units: for cylinder handling and filling equipment.
- Duty and standby arrangements: so cooling and lube oil never stop.
Safety and Cleanliness
Oxygen service needs particular care. Equipment in contact with oxygen must be clean and free of oil and grease, and materials must suit oxygen service. Many gas sites also have hazardous areas for flammable gases. Tell us the gas, the area classification and your site’s cleaning standards before ordering, and we’ll match parts that suit.
Related Manufacturing Sectors
Industrial gases supply other manufacturing sectors. Gas assist moulding links to injection moulding & plastics, general plant air and nitrogen use to general industry, and automated filling lines to manufacturing & automation.
