Boiler Feed and Steam Systems
Boiler feed pumps push hot water into a pressurised boiler, so they need high head and enough suction margin to avoid flashing and cavitation. Multistage pumps are the usual choice, often in duty and standby pairs. Condensate return pumps bring hot condensate back to the feed tank, where low suction pressure and high temperature make careful pump selection essential.
Cooling Water and Cooling Towers
Cooling water systems carry heat away from process equipment, compressors and hydraulic oil coolers. Circulation pumps run around the clock, often at higher flow than the plant really needs. Variable speed drives can match flow to the heat load and cut energy use. Cooling towers also need dosing for scale, corrosion and biological control, plus filtration to keep heat exchangers clean.
Reverse Osmosis and Process Water
Many sites treat their own process water. Reverse osmosis systems need high pressure feed pumps that hold steady pressure across the membranes, along with dosing for antiscalant and cleaning. Process water systems then distribute treated water around the plant, usually with booster sets that hold pressure as demand changes.
Effluent Treatment
Industrial effluent can contain oils, solids, chemicals and changing pH. Treatment plants on site need sump and transfer pumps that handle solids, dosing pumps for pH correction and flocculants, and sludge pumps for the dewatering stage. Choosing materials that suit the effluent stops early corrosion and leaks.
What Plant Water Systems Need
- Multistage pumps: boiler feed, RO feed and high pressure water.
- Centrifugal pumps: cooling water, condensate and transfer.
- Dosing pumps: water treatment chemicals, antiscalant and pH control.
- Progressive cavity pumps: sludge and thick effluent.
- Variable speed drives: cooling and booster duties with changing demand.
Reliability for Utility Systems
Utility pumps work quietly until they don’t. Duty and standby pairs, matched spares and regular performance checks prevent most surprises. Watching motor current and pressure trends shows wear and fouling early, before a boiler or cooling system trips the plant. Our lifecycle support service can build these checks into a regular review.
Related Process Sectors
Plant water systems support every other process industry. Mill water and effluent are a big part of paper & pulp, purified water loops sit under pharma & biotech, and CIP and process water feature in food & beverage. Town water and sewage treatment are covered separately under water & wastewater.
What We Need From You
- The system: boiler feed, cooling, RO, process water or effluent.
- Flow, head and water temperature.
- Water quality, chemicals and any solids.
- Existing pump part numbers or nameplate photos.
