Hydraulic Gear Pumps: External, Internal and Gerotor Designs

Gear pumps use two meshing gears to push oil from inlet to outlet, giving you simple, tough and affordable hydraulic flow. At TSA Hydraulics Engineering, they form a core part of our Hydraulic Pumps range within Pumps, covering external, internal and gerotor designs.

Replacing a pump on a tipper, tractor or power pack? Send us the part number, or the flange, shaft and rotation details, and our engineers will match it so it bolts straight on. Choose a genuine OEM pump or a quality equivalent, with stock units shipped fast from Sydney. Need higher pressure or quieter running? We can point you to vane or piston pumps.

Frequently asked questions

Can't find your answer? Talk to an engineer.

1. What is the difference between external and internal gear pumps?

External pumps use two gears side by side and suit most general duties. Internal pumps put one gear inside another for quieter running.

2. Can I swap an aluminium gear pump for a cast iron one?

Usually, if the flange, shaft and ports match. Cast iron is often the better choice for heavy, continuous duty.

3. Why is my gear pump whining?

Whining usually means cavitation or air in the oil. Check the strainer, suction line and oil level first.

4. Can you supply the gear pump's datasheet?

Yes. We send the datasheet with your quote so you can check gear pump specifications and dimensions first.

5. How quickly can I get a replacement gear pump?

Stock pumps ship fast from Sydney. For non-stock or multi-section units, we confirm the lead time with your quote.
