Kayaba Pump Types
Gear Pumps
KYB gear pumps, including the common KFP series, supply working hydraulics, steering and auxiliary circuits on forklifts, tractors and loaders. Single and multiple section versions are common, so note each section’s size.
Variable Piston Pumps
KYB variable piston pumps, such as the PSVD2 and PSVL series, are the main pumps on many mini and midi excavators. They often carry a gear pump on the back for pilot oil.
Matching a Kayaba Pump
The KYB number on the pump nameplate is the best starting point, as machine builders often add their own part numbers. Rotation, shaft spline, flange and port positions can vary within one series, so photos matter. A pump with the wrong rotation won’t build pressure.
Repair, Replace or Equivalent
Piston pumps can often be rebuilt with rotating group parts and seal kits, while gear pumps are usually cheaper to replace. Where a genuine Kayaba pump is available, we’ll quote it. Equivalents for popular KYB sizes can cut cost and lead time, and every quote states which you’re getting.
Keeping a KYB Pump Healthy
Compact machines run small oil tanks, so oil heats up and gets dirty quickly. Change filters on schedule, keep the oil level right and check suction hoses for cracks. A whining gear pump usually means suction trouble, and catching it early saves the pump.
Related Pump Brands and Components
Kayaba hydraulic pumps sit alongside other pump OEMs in our range. Larger excavator pumps are covered under Kawasaki hydraulic pumps, forklift and loader drive pumps under Linde hydraulic pumps, and other original makers under OEM pump brands. Travel motors and control valves are covered under hydraulic motors and directional control valves.
