Pumping Around the Circuit
Every stage of a processing plant leans on pumps and hydraulics. Crushers use hydraulic systems to set the gap and clear tramp metal. Grinding mills need lube oil and jacking systems that never miss a beat. Flotation depends on accurate reagent dosing and steady froth and slurry transfer. Thickeners need underflow pumps that handle dense, abrasive slurry without blocking. Filter presses need feed pumps and hydraulic closing systems that hold pressure through each cycle. Process water then has to be recovered and pumped back to the start.
Each of these duties has a different weak point, so one pump type rarely suits them all. Matching the pump to the stage, rather than standardising on one model, usually pays back in fewer breakdowns.
Choosing Pumps for Slurry and Reagents
- Reagent dosing: diaphragm metering or peristaltic pumps for accurate, adjustable dosing.
- Thickener underflow and dense slurry: progressive cavity or peristaltic pumps that handle solids gently.
- Process water: centrifugal and multistage pumps for clean water at volume.
- Filter press feed: pumps that build pressure steadily as the cake forms.
- Hydraulic power: power units for crushers, filter presses and mill systems.
Hydraulics on Processing Equipment
Processing plant hydraulics often run quietly in the background until they fail. Cone crusher hydraulics adjust the setting and protect the crusher when uncrushable material gets in. Mill lube systems keep bearings and gears supplied, often with jacking pumps for start up. Filter press closing systems need pumps and valves that hold high pressure without creeping. All of them depend on clean oil and working accumulators, relief valves and filters.
Fighting Wear and Blockages
Slurry wears everything it touches. Choosing the right materials and pump type makes more difference than any maintenance routine. Slower running pumps usually last longer on abrasive duties. Good suction design stops air and solids settling in the lines. For dosing, check calibration often and protect pumps from blocked lines, which can build dangerous pressure in a positive displacement pump.
Pump Skids for Processing Plants
Many processing duties suit packaged pump skids: reagent dosing sets, process water boosters and filter press feed systems. A skid arrives pre-piped and tested, so installation during a shutdown is faster. Our pump skid systems are designed by our engineers and built with trusted fabrication partners.
For mobile fleets and mine dewatering, see mining & heavy industry. Press and forming hydraulics sit under steel & metal forming, and transfer and injection duties under oil & gas.
