What “Packaged” Really Means
A packaged system arrives as one unit with a few clear connection points:
- One power supply into a single control panel.
- One suction or inlet connection.
- One discharge or outlet connection.
- Signal terminals for alarms and remote control.
Everything between those points is already piped, wired and set up. That’s the difference from a bare pump skid or a skid mounted system.
Common Packaged Systems
- Water booster sets: hold steady pressure in buildings and plant.
- Transfer packages: move water, fuel or process liquids between tanks.
- Lube oil supply packages: pumps, filters, coolers and alarms for bearings and gearboxes.
- Oil conditioning units: filter and dry hydraulic or lube oil on a running machine.
- Cooling water packages: circulation pumps with heat exchangers and controls.
- Dosing packages: metering pumps, tanks and instruments for water treatment.
Critical duties can carry two pumps, set up like our duty/standby skids.
Packaged or Custom?
A packaged system suits a common duty that a proven design already covers. It’s quicker to quote, easier to repeat and simpler to support with spares.
A custom skid suits odd spaces, mixed duties or strict site standards. If your job falls between the two, we’ll start from a package and change only what must change.
Before It Ships
Depending on the package and the build, checks can include:
- Pressure testing of pipework and joints.
- Electrical checks on the panel and wiring.
- Rotation and run checks on each pump.
- Instrument and alarm set points recorded.
- A general arrangement drawing and parts list supplied.
Getting Your Site Ready
- Confirm the power supply, voltage and breaker size.
- Prepare a level slab or plinth with hold down points.
- Run pipework to the connection points, with isolation valves.
- Leave space to open the panel and service the pumps.
- Plan the lift: crane size, access and set down area.
A ready site turns delivery day into a short commissioning job.
Looking After a Packaged System
- Check the panel’s alarm history every month.
- Clean strainers and change filters on schedule.
- Swap the duty pump regularly if the package has two.
- Recheck instrument set points after any change to the plant.
- Keep the parts list handy, so spares match first time.
Packaged Systems & Skids Specifications to Check
- Duty: flow, pressure and fluid
- Number of pumps and standby arrangement
- Power supply and control panel rating
- Connection sizes and positions
- Footprint, weight and lifting points
- Alarm signals and communications
